Delta Air Lines' new service: everything you need to know

With upgraded, standard-setting Main Cabin service on international flights, there's never been a better time to rediscover Delta

Friday 22 November 2019 17:25 GMT

Everybody likes an upgrade and Delta Air Lines' reinvention of its Main Cabin service on international flights is the result of over a year of in-depth research and behind-the-scenes fine-tuning, thanks to invaluable customer and staff feedback.

New service tested on 700 flights

Delta has considered every detail to ensure its economy-class experience from the UK to the USA has that extra wow factor.

Designed with the help of 24 flight attendants, who are best-placed when it comes to understanding customers' needs, the new service was tested over the course of the year on 700 flights between Portland, USA, and Tokyo, Japan.

Rigorous reviews through nearly 14,000 hours of flying time led to further refinement of the new and innovative onboard offering. Additional feedback from the design team also meant a number of changes to help perfect and create a memorable experience in the international Main Cabin.

A warm welcome onboard

While waiting to board, customers are warmly welcomed by the purser or lead flight attendant in the gate area before being greeted by the crew as they step inside the aircraft.

Shortly after departure, passengers are served refreshing Welcome Aboard cocktails in the shape of a delicious Bellini of sparkling white wine and crushed peach juice.

To kick off the flight, a hot towel service will ensure you are feeling refreshed and ready to start your journey.

Restaurant-style inflight meals

Thanks to responses from more than 1,800 customers, new bistro-inspired dining adds a touch of restaurant-style refinement to the inflight experience. Passengers can now choose from the printed menu and can enjoy their meal from custom-designed dinnerware, complemented by placemats and upgraded cutlery sets.

Look forward to generous entrées from chef-curated menus that also feature Delta One favourites such as Harissa Shrimp. Dessert is then served separately with a choice of tea or coffee to round off an elevated dining experience.

In order to implement these one-of-a-kind innovations, training has been provided to more than 3,000 pursers, the lead flight attendants on Delta’s international flights, to help ensure that every member of staff goes above and beyond to help create unforgettable moments for passengers.

Improved turndown service

When it’s time to kick back and relax, you can get cosy thanks to an enhanced turndown service with improved amenity kits and blankets to ensure maximum comfort.

Just before the plane arrives at your destination, customers are given one last treat in the shape of a delicious chocolate and a fond farewell from the flight crew.

With customer connection and personal service being the hallmarks of this new, standard-setting international Main Cabin service, it’s time to rediscover Delta.
