Roberto Bautista Agut has been forced to cancel his stag do after surpassing his own expectations by reaching the semi-finals at Wimbledon.

Bautista Agut was due to be in Ibiza this weekend with six friends ahead of his wedding in November.

But instead his fiancee, Ana Bodi Tortosa watched on No1 court as the Spanish player beat Argentina’s Guido Pella to line-up a semi-final on Saturday against Novak Djokovic.

“I had planned to be in Ibiza right now,” Bautista Agut said after his match. “We had everything organised already. My friends, six of them, are all there. Well, it feels better to be here in London.”

He said his friends would instead fly to the UK on Friday.

On his victory, Bautista Agut added: “It was not easy to manage all the emotions and get through all of them to win the match.”
