Tyler the Creator: 'Elizabeth Taylor is my jewelry idol'

Tyler, the Creator, ScHoolboy Q and Lil Yachty are among the artists to be boycotting Sweden following A$AP Rocky’s recent arrest on suspicion of assault.

American rapper A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, has been detained following a street fight in Stockholm in which a man was repeatedly punched and allegedly cut with a broken bottle.

Due to his detainment, Mayers was forced to drop out of his headline set at Wireless Festival in London, as well as shows in Norway and Poland.

In solidarity with their friend and industry colleague, three American rappers have taken to Twitter to announce that they are not planning on travelling to Sweden any time soon.

Tyler, the Creator, who has toured and collaborated with Mayers in recent years, wrote: “no more Sweden for me, ever.”

ScHoolboy Q soon followed suit, stating: “I’m not goin nomo eitHer...”

Lil Yachty added: “Me 3 will never hit Sweden again...”

Mayers and two of his associates are currently being held in Stockholm on pre-trial detention for two weeks.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Mayers’ manager John Ehmann called for fans to sign a new Change.org petition calling for the rapper’s release and detailing the allegedly deplorable conditions of his imprisonment.

Singer Shawn Mendes posted the petition with the caption: “Support human rights.”

Comedian Jada Pinkett Smith also encouraged people to “stand in support”.

Henrik Olsson Lilja, Mayer’s lawyer, insists that the rapper is not a flight risk and that he will show up to a trial if needs be. “They were attacked and he made use of self-defence,” Lilja said.

If convicted, Mayers reportedly faces up to six years in prison.
