While Armie Hammer may have dismissed rumours he’s the next Batman, the actor has admitted he would jump at the chance to play the Caped Crusader.

Ben Affleck recently stepped away from the role, leading to much speculation over who could take over a The Dark Knight.

Speaking to Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show, Hammer was questioned about potentially taking over the role.

“None of the people who start rumours are actually the people who can give you jobs,” he said.

“So it’s always like, ‘Oh, are you going to play Batman?’ And I’m like, ‘Well you just asked me, but guess who hasn’t – Warner Bros’.”

Fallon went on to say Hammer was many people’s first choice for the role, with the actor replying: “Yes, who wouldn’t want to be Batman? I think every guy in this audience would want to be Batman if they could. It’s a good gig.”

Hammer’s previous work includes The Social Network, On The Basis Of Sex, and Call Me By Your Name. Questioned about a sequel to the latter, Hammer said he would be keen to reprise his role alongside Timothee Chalamet, joking that they would both require “$12 million” each.

Meanwhile, director Matt Reeves has been pushing on with a new version of Batman. Who exactly will play the eponymous character remains unknown. See a list of potential candidates here.
