Frank Lampard 'delighted' as he's announced new Chelsea manager

Frank Lampard has revealed the qualities he expects to see from his Chelsea side being confirmed as the club’s new head coach.

The Blues legend replaces Maurizio Sarri at the club, signing a three-year deal following one season at Derby.

And Lampard has outlined what can be expected from his side after returning to Stamford Bridge following 13 years as a player.

“It’s surreal to a degree, my playing career here meant so much to me. It was home for such a long time,” Lampard told Chelsea’s official website.

“This is a new chapter, I’m really looking forward to it. My desire is to be here and work hard. I did that as a player to get the most out of myself on the pitch and that is my intention as a manager.

“I still have that feeling (with the club) and that’s what I want to see in my players, in my team, those are the things the fans want to see.

“It was a good first year (at Derby), from where we started, we changed a lot, bringing the age down, changing the style. We made great strides in one season, it’s what I’m most proud of. I’m ready to keep learning.

“I want to work and be close to my players. I know what they want and need. I had a relationship with them (the players) on and off the pitch.

“I like to set standards, work hard. I found that at Derby, the training translated on to the pitch and that’s my job.

“If I can see a team that works hard, has high energy, that really has passion, and of course has talent that I know this squad has already, I’ll be really happy.”
